When exactly does your Capital Gains Account Scheme deposit fall due?
Sold a property and haven't reinvested the whole gain yet? There's a clock running that most sellers only hear about when it's nearly too late: whatever part of your gain is still uninvested has to reach a Capital Gains Account Scheme (CGAS) account before your income-tax return falls due — not before you eventually buy. Enter your sale month and whether your return needs an audit, and see your typical deadline as an actual date.

Your sale, in three fields
This does one thing: the CGAS deadline arithmetic, from your sale month and your audit status. It deliberately does not compute your tax, does not apply indexation, and does not know your exact filing category. Everything you type stays in your browser; nothing here is transmitted or stored.
When did you sell, and what's your filing situation?

Your indicative results
Every line below is labeled indicative because it is: a month-level date from a month-level input, computed against the typical due dates — not your exact, CA-confirmed deadline.

Financial year
Your CGAS deadline is tied to the income-tax return for the financial year your sale falls in — not the calendar year.

What needs to reach the CGAS account
This is the figure you entered, not a computed one — the exact uninvested amount on your return is your CA's figure.

Read this before the date arrives, not after
- It's the deposit date, not the purchase date: the money has to reach the CGAS account by this date — you can still take longer to actually buy or build, within the separate reinvestment windows.
- Only the uninvested part: if you've already reinvested some of the gain directly, only what's left uninvested needs the CGAS deposit.
- Which bank, and how withdrawals work, are CA/bank questions: see the FAQ on the full guide page for what to ask.

Frequently asked
Why does the calculator ask if I need a tax audit?
Because the typical income-tax return due date — and so the typical CGAS deadline, which is tied to it — differs between audit and non-audit cases: non-audit individual returns are typically due 31 July, audit cases typically 31 October, of the relevant assessment year. Whether you actually require an audit is itself a CA question (it depends on your income sources and thresholds), not something this tool determines for you. Indicative — confirm with your CA.
What if I already know my exact CGAS deadline from my CA — why re-check it here?
You don't need to — your CA's figure, anchored to your exact date of transfer and filing category, is the one that governs. This calculator exists for the earlier planning stage: a quick, indicative sense of the typical date so you know roughly how much runway you have before you go and get the exact figure confirmed. Indicative — confirm with your CA.
Does this calculator tell me which bank to deposit the CGAS amount with?
No — it only computes the typical deadline date. Which banks near you currently offer CGAS accounts, and which account type (savings-style or term-deposit-style) suits your reinvestment timeline, are questions for your bank and your CA; branch-level availability and account rules can vary. Indicative — confirm with your CA.
I haven't sold yet — can I still use this calculator to plan ahead?
Yes. Enter the month you expect to sell (or a recent month, to see how the logic works) and the tool will show the typical deadline shape for that scenario. Once you have an actual sale date, re-run it with the real month for a more relevant, though still indicative, date. Indicative — confirm with your CA.
Does this calculator store or send the month and amount I enter?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser — the month, year and amount you enter are not transmitted to or stored by this page. Only if you separately choose to send a WhatsApp message, or submit the call-back form above, does any information reach our desk, and that is a deliberate, visible action on your part. Indicative — confirm with your CA.
