That much every page on this query gets right. What almost none of them mention is that the UP-RERA register — the document your agreement has to match — prints neither of those two names for an address in this belt. It prints a third, shorter one. This page shows all three, says which one to type where, and marks the point at which one of them stops meaning this belt at all.

Are Noida Extension and Greater Noida West the same place?
Quick answer · 2 September 2026 — Yes. They are two names for one belt, and “Greater Noida West” is the later, official-side name. Developers coined “Noida Extension” to distinguish the area from adjacent Noida; the Greater Noida Authority afterwards declared that the area would be referred to as Greater Noida West. Both names still work in conversation and on a map. Where it stops being harmless is on paperwork — and there the surprise is that the RERA register for a project in this belt can print a third version again.
“Noida Extension” was the developers’ word first
Wikipedia’s Greater Noida entry, in its etymology section, records that “initially, developers coined the term ‘Noida Extension’ to distinguish it from the adjacent Noida”, and that “the Greater Noida Authority later declared that the area would be referred to as ‘Greater Noida West’.” Its geography section adds that Greater Noida West, previously known as Noida Extension, is a part of Greater Noida and a sub city within Gautam Buddha Nagar district. Reported, and consistent with how the authority and the market each use the names today.
The Greater Noida authority, not the Noida one
This belt sits under the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, not the Noida Authority, and the difference shows up in real paperwork rather than only in a description. Eldeco La Vida Bella’s own brochure records its layout as approved by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority under reference SM-22-AUG-2023:19040 dated 17.01.2024, on land it describes as 14,998 sq. mtr at Sector-12, Greater Noida — developer-stated, and a string you can quote back when you ask to see the sanctioned layout. What name does the RERA register actually print?
This is the part almost nobody checks, and it is the one that matters when a document has to match another document.
The register writes plain “Greater Noida”
The registered address for Eldeco La Vida Bella reads Plot GH-02C, Sector 12, Greater Noida, tehsil Dadri, district Gautam Buddha Nagar — under UPRERAPRJ136219/04/2024, as at our desk’s UP-RERA portal check of 21 August 2026, corroborated by our register mirror read of 29 July 2026. Not “Greater Noida West”. Not “Noida Extension”. The authority’s own field carries the shortest of the three names, with the sector doing the work of locating the plot. So a buyer in this belt is dealing with three strings at once: the market’s name, the authority’s declared name, and the register’s address field — and when you search the register, it is the last one you have to type. Where the names stop being interchangeable
“Greater Noida West” and “Noida Extension” point at the same belt. “Greater Noida” on its own does not — it can mean either this belt or Greater Noida proper, which is a different set of sectors with a different market, a different commute and, as it happens, a metro line that already runs.

Sector Omicron 1A, Greater Noida — a different place
Eldeco 7 Peaks, UPRERAPRJ106523/01/2026, registered 28-01-2026, promoter ELDECO HOMES DEVELOPERS LIMITED. Same district, same authority, different city half. Which name should you use, and when?
- Searching the RERA register: use the registration number or the promoter’s legal name, never the locality name. Locality strings on the register are not standardised the way you expect them to be.
- On your agreement for sale: whatever the plot identity on the register says, letter for letter. If your draft agreement and the register describe the address differently, that is a question to raise before you sign, not after.
- On a postal address: the name is less important than the code, and the code is a separate question with a separate answer — see our Greater Noida West pin code page.
- Talking to a seller: if someone says “Greater Noida” without a sector, ask which half they mean. It is a fair question and the answer changes the commute by a substantial margin — one side has metro stations running today and the other does not, as the Omicron 1A page and the La Vida Bella location page both set out.

Which sectors fall inside Greater Noida West and which sit in Greater Noida proper is a question with an authoritative answer — the authority’s own master plan — and we have not worked through it row by row. We describe only the two sectors we have register addresses for. Anyone publishing a complete sector split without citing the master plan is guessing at the edges.

Which name should be written on my sale agreement?
Whatever the plot identity on the UP-RERA register says, letter for letter. For Eldeco La Vida Bella that string is Plot GH-02C, Sector 12, Greater Noida, tehsil Dadri, district Gautam Buddha Nagar. Your agreement for sale and the register entry should describe the same address in the same words; if the draft in front of you words it differently, that is a question to raise with the promoter’s office before registration rather than after. The marketing name on a brochure has no bearing on this.
Is Greater Noida West in Gautam Buddha Nagar district or Ghaziabad?
The district is Gautam Buddha Nagar. Ghaziabad appears against these addresses for a different reason: it is the postal division that India Post routes the area through, which is a postal administrative boundary rather than a revenue-district one. When we queried the India Post PIN directory on 2 September 2026, the offices returned for 201306 all showed district Gautam Buddha Nagar and division Ghaziabad on the same row. Seeing Ghaziabad on a postal record is normal and is not evidence that a property sits in that district.
